FREE RANGE
‘The World’s Largest Art Happening’
Housed in the cavernous splendour of Brick Lane’s Old Truman Brewery, Free Range 2008 boasts an incredible 400,000 square foot of dedicated exhibition space and is set to feature over 3,000 of the UK’s leading graduate artists drawn from 45 of the country’s finest art colleges from 30th May until 21st July 2008.
Showcasing the very latest in design, photography, art, and interiors, Free Range is dedicated to providing a National platform for the very best in UK student talent. Now in its eighth year, Free Range has become a byword for cutting edge, a reputation that last year saw the event attract a record 150,000 visitors.
Participating art colleges at the Fair are varied and this year include those from Brighton, Bournemouth, Nottingham, Manchester, Reading, and Goldsmiths. Each college creates their own tailor-made exhibition as part of Free Range, which rotate weekly over an 8 week period in several locations. Varied disciplines including Graphics, illustration, printmaking, product design and textiles can be seen at the Fair and suit a variety of taste. Popular with collectors, students, universities, employers, the media, industry shakers and everyday art lovers alike, Free Range has grown to become one of the world’s largest art fairs, now occupying the vast historic 11 acre site at the Old Truman Brewery off Brick Lane in East London.
Located at the centre of London’s creative community, the free event offers an unrivalled opportunity for both the artist and the public. Free Range Director, Tamsin O’Hanlon explains, “Free Range is an unprecedented display of youth, art and creativity. It’s vast scale, variety and location sets it apart from other more parochial student art events. Free Range offers the best opportunity for the general public and the art-buying community to uncover tomorrow’s talent at today’s prices.”
Free Range is in association with Metro, sponsored by the London Graphic Centre and supported by Dazed & Confused, Grafik, The British Journal of Photography, Art Below, and the Chartered Society of Designers.
